Adelaide’s Tom Lynch and Port Adelaide’s Tom Jonas will captain their respective sides, with both leaders determined to secure inaugural T20 Showdown honours.

“We can’t wait to get out there and take on Port in front of a huge crowd at Adelaide Oval,” Lynch said.

“This is an opportunity to raise as much money as possible to help those affected by the bushfires and to say thank you to all the amazing firefighters.”

“We definitely want to win and it is pretty special to get a chance to play cricket on Adelaide Oval, but it’s more about doing our bit for those affected by the bushfires,” Jonas said.

“We are trying to use our position in the community to make a difference and hopefully raise a heap of money.”

With underage state representation and premiership experience on both teams, combined with bragging rights on the line, it’ll be ‘game on’ from the moment the players take to the field.

The remaining players for each team will comprise of four Adelaide Strikers/Redbacks players, one South Australian female cricketer and a CFS volunteer.

Cricketers will be selected by each captain at a player draft which will occur next Wednesday, 29 January at Adelaide Oval.

100% of net proceeds from ticketing, catering, sponsorship and all other donations for this match will go to the state’s bushfire appeal, which will raise vital funds for people directly affected by bushfires in recent months.

All tickets are being sold as general admission tickets and are priced at $20 for adults, $5 for kids and $40 for families. The State Government has also announced that it will be providing free public transport to all those attending the match.
