Adelaide Oval continues to shine as South Australia’s beacon to the world, following its nomination for the 2016 Venue of the Year award.

This award pits Adelaide Oval against five shortlisted major international venues including London’s Twickenham Stadium and Florida’s Daytona International Speedway.

Adelaide Oval has been nominated for three awards as part of 2016 TheStadiumBusiness Awards, to be announced in Madrid on June 1. These annual awards recognise leadership, innovation and achievement in the delivery, operation and management of sports facilities globally.

If successful, the awards would add to the 27 local, national and international accolades the redeveloped Oval has received in the past two years.

“We are absolutely delighted to be nominated for the Venue of the Year award – a prestigious award previously won be venues such as San Francisco’s Levi Stadium (2015); Stockholm’s Tele2 Arena (2014); and the New Orleans’ Mercedes Benz Superdrome (2013),” said Adelaide Oval SMA CEO Andrew Daniels.

“We have also been nominated for two other awards – the Premium Seat Award for our Audi Stadium Club offering and the Fan Experience Award for our Commonwealth Bank RoofClimb experience.”

The Venue of the Year award will be judged by an international panel while the Premium Seat Award and Fan Experience Award will be open to public voting from fans across the world.

“We don’t set out to win awards as a priority but receiving nominations such as this does show how the reputation of Adelaide and the Adelaide Oval continues to grow internationally,” Mr Daniels said.

“Adelaide Oval has always been about delivering the best experience possible for our patrons and these nominations reflect the efforts of our entire team – I am extremely proud that their hard work is recognised in this way”

Adelaide Oval recently made the shortlist for Best Completed Sports Building at the World Architecture Festival and has won a host of awards in various categories from architecture and engineering to functions and events and tourism.
