This Sunday’s Showdown between Adelaide and Port Adelaide will see the Adelaide Oval welcome its one millionth patron since the ground reopened in December last year.

And that lucky fan will receive a prize of four seats in the Audi Stadium Club for 2014/15 valued at $25,000.

“This is a pretty amazing achievement by the people of South Australia,” Adelaide Oval SMA Chairman John Olsen said.

“We had a fantastic summer of sell-outs for cricket, and our AFL attendances have already got the whole of Australia talking about the Adelaide Oval.

“To have a million people already through the gates is something of which everyone in the State should be enormously proud.”

Attendances since the Oval reopened for the Ashes Test match in December 2013 include:

– Cricket 302,753

– AFL 583,471

– Functions & Events (non-game day) 67,762

– SANFL ANZAC Day 10,014

– Adelaide Oval Tours 9,959

TOTAL: 973,959

“It’s not only crowds for major events that are big, it’s also the sheer number of people attending the Oval for functions, events and tours,” Mr Olsen said.

“It’s testament to the way South Australians have embraced their Oval. They are the reason it has been such an outstanding success, and this is only the beginning.”

The lucky one millionth fan will receive a prize of four seats in the Audi Stadium Club in the Eastern Stand for the balance of the 2014 AFL season and all of the 2015 cricket and football seasons.
