We’d like to commend the crowd on the Northern Mound last night for grabbing this individual until police arrived.
They seemed to be just as angry about it as we are and rightly so.
It’s antisocial, it’s dangerous and it has no place in football or in any other sport.
Our security teams are doing a difficult job and doing it well, and for someone to secrete a flare somewhere on their person – as premeditated act – to try to sneak it through the gates is, in our view, pathetic.
We understand the individual, who is not a member of the Adelaide Football Club, has been charged by SAPOL and has already been issued with a venue ban.
Fans like this don’t deserve to come to the Adelaide Oval, and so we have taken the decision to ban this individual from the Oval for life.
