Adelaide Oval will host the first ever day-night Ashes Test match after Cricket Australia and the England Cricket Board today confirmed the 2017-18 Men’s Ashes Test schedule.

The day-night fixture will be held from 2-6 December 2017 in the Second Test of the men’s Ashes series.

Having hosted the past two day-night Tests against New Zealand and South Africa with record attendances, Adelaide Oval has cemented itself as a venue for future pink ball fixtures.

Adelaide Oval’s Australia Day fixture for 2018 has also been confirmed, with Australia hosting England in a One Day International on the 26 January public holiday.

SACA Chief Executive Keith Bradshaw today said, “Adelaide Oval hosted the world’s first day-night Test and to now host the first ever Ashes pink ball fixture is hugely exciting for South Australia.

“Cricket fans have shown how much they love this format and we expect sell-out crowds for the first Ashes day-night Test.

“Fans have voted with their feet the past two summers. The day-night Test in Adelaide is now the go-to destination for cricket fans worldwide.

“We expect a large number of ticket sales to come from interstate and overseas which will drive South Australian tourism and create jobs.

“With Australia Day also locked in at Adelaide Oval long-term, it is exciting to see another ODI on the public holiday and we expect a packed Adelaide Oval when Australia host England.”
