Adelaide Oval Functions & Events did Melbourne Cup a little differently this year, designing and delivering its own event in support of Unite4Kids.

The result? A glamorous Melbourne Cup Day luncheon that attracted more than 500 guests for a day of racing, charity, and entertainment. More than $60,000 was raised on the day, all of which will directly support Unite4Kids’ two chosen local charities – the Childhood Cancer Association and Starlight Children’s Foundation.

As guests stepped onto sunny Telstra Plaza, they were welcomed by a delightful array of offerings including free-flowing Moët & Chandon, delectable food stations, live entertainment and a surprising appearance by a real-life horse!

A gourmet three-course menu designed by Adelaide Oval’s award-winning chefs was accompanied by non-stop entertainment.

Guests enjoyed a captivating performance from Rob Mallet, renowned for his portrayal of Elvis Presley in “Elvis: A Musical Revolution.” He serenaded the audience with a medley of the King of Rock ‘n Roll’s greatest hits, including “Can’t Help Falling in Love” which left them eagerly anticipating the upcoming show, set to grace Her Majesty’s Theatre from 3 April.

Local cabaret star Michael Griffiths also took to the stage, as did retired star jockey Clare Lindop, who was interviewed by MC and fellow racing royalty, Terry McAuliffe. The two discussed Clare’s historic Melbourne Cup ride twenty years ago, as well as the challenges and triumphs of her distinguished career.

Amidst the excitement of the day, fashion took centre stage. Fashion parades showcased the creativity and talent of South Australian brands such as couture+love+madness and Mimi-Jane Millinery alongside Australian label Perri Cutten.

As the big race hit the big screens there was plenty of celebration, with guests backing a winner through the event’s own bookmaker. And the frivolity continued into an exclusive afterparty at neighbouring MTX Club, where desserts and cocktails were shared, and the dancefloor kicked on for hours.
