English pop phenomenon Adele has delighted a record-breaking crowd in excess of 70,000 people at Adelaide Oval as part of her Australian Tour.
It is the largest crowd for any concert in South Australia and the largest crowd for any event held at Adelaide Oval, surpassing the 62,543 that saw Port Adelaide defeat Sturt in the 1965 SANFL Grand Final.
Adelaide Oval SMA Chief Executive Officer Andrew Daniels thanked Adele for bringing her world-class act to South Australia and said the success of the concert was due to a lot of hard work behind the scenes.
“It is a testament to Adele’s amazing talent and the tireless work of promoters Michael Coppel and the whole Live Nation team, that they now hold the dual records for the largest concert in South Australia and the largest crowd at Adelaide Oval.”
“Once again Adelaide Oval has proven itself as a world-class event venue capable of hosting globally renowned acts such as Adele,” Mr Daniels said.
Performing hit tracks including Hello and Someone Like You, the British songstress wowed the Adelaide crowd for more than two hours.
