The South Australian Cricket Association in partnership with Cricket Australia today confirmed the 2024/25 the international summer of cricket at Adelaide Oval
Fans can look forward to the return of December Day/Night Men’s cricket and a blockbuster Women’s Ashes T20 International.
India will play Australia at Adelaide Oval in a Day/Night Test beginning on Friday 6 December 2024, their first time back to South Australia since a famous Australian victory in 2020.
Adelaide Oval will also host a Day/Night Men’s One Day International against Pakistan on Friday 8 November 2024.
Australia will face off against England in the Ashes under lights on Saturday 25 January, with the clash expected to draw a large crowd similar to the thrilling series on English soil in 2023 which broke attendance and viewership records for Women’s cricket. It is the first of two Ashes clashes scheduled for 2025, with the Men’s Ashes set for the summer of 2025/26.
SACA and Cricket Australia expect a long-term Test schedule to be announced in the coming weeks, with SACA and Adelaide Oval looking to confirm a premium Test schedule for several years.
SACA President William Rayner says the scheduling is just reward for SACA Members and their continued support of Australian cricket.
“We have worked closely with Cricket Australia in recent months to ensure a long-term schedule of international cricket that rewards SACA Members and all South Australian sporting fans for their passion and dedication,” Rayner said.
“At every stage of the negotiations, we looked to not only secure a fair and rewarding deal for SACA, but a strong deal that promotes growth for Australian cricket.
“It is with great excitement that we prepare to welcome England for a huge Women’s Ashes fixture and Pakistan for a white ball battle in November, and India for a marquee Day/Night Test Match. As always, we know our Members will turn up in huge numbers for these matches and we look forward to again showcasing our amazing city to the world this summer.”
India’s last journey to Adelaide created history, with Australia claiming an eight-wicket victory on the back of a remarkable bowing performance from quick Josh Hazlewood.
The Women’s Ashes will comprise of all three formats of the game, with the T20I at Adelaide Oval set to be a key clash in the deciding of the prestigious series.
