Adelaide’s newest tourist attraction – the Commonwealth Bank RoofClimb Adelaide Oval – is now officially open, with the first tours commencing today.
Led by a team of 15 specially-trained Climb Leaders, the first lucky climbers will get to experience breathtaking views of the stadium and a unique perspective of the city of Adelaide and its surrounds.
The climb will take them across the Western Stand roofline, then across a link bridge before they get to step out on – and even lean out from – a newly-constructed deck overlooking the goal square on the Riverbank Stand.
“This has been a dream of ours ever since we first began operating the Adelaide Oval more than two-and-a-half years ago,” Adelaide Oval SMA Chairman John Olsen said.
“Over that time, our team has been working with architects and designers, looking at similar operations around Australia and overseas, preparing the business case and training the climb teams – all in readiness for this day.
“It’s fantastic that we’re finally here and about to create some history for Adelaide Oval, the city and the State.”
And, with thousands of gift cards sold and bookings made, the climbs are set to be incredibly popular so we’re encouraging people to get in early and book their climb.
“It’s a unique experience and one that we’re extremely excited to be involved in,” said Todd Roberts, Commonwealth Bank’s General Manager for Institutional & Corporate Banking SA/NT.
“We think it’s going to really add to Adelaide Oval’s stellar reputation and become a must-see, must-do attraction for visitors and locals alike.”
