Some of South Australia’s top athletes put their ball skills to a new kind of test today, when they took on an Adelaide Oval Stadium Golf challenge.
Adelaide Crows players Taylor Walker and Erin Phillips joined West End Redbacks player Elliot Opie, Kate Shimmin from the Adelaide Thunderbirds and Jarrod Lienert from Port Adelaide in a nearest the pin style competition.
Walker was victorious in the challenge that saw the group face one of the most difficult shots to be part of the upcoming Adelaide Oval Stadium Golf event – teeing off from level five of the Riverbank Stand.
“It was great to see some of the state’s best athletes put their skills to a different kind of test today,” said Adelaide Oval SMA General Manager Operations & Commercial Darren Chandler.
“It was also an exciting opportunity to provide everyone with a sneak peak of the level five Riverbank Stand tee, which is sure to be one of the most popular – and challenging – holes to be part of the Adelaide Oval Stadium Golf course.”
From Monday, 29 October – Sunday, 4 November, Adelaide Oval will be transformed into a golfer’s paradise. Adelaide Oval Stadium Golf will feature a nine-hole stadium golf course, a nine-hole putting course, a Clubhouse putting hole and longest drive simulator competition – all open to the general public and corporate groups.
The nine-hole stadium golf course will provide golfing enthusiasts the chance to experience Adelaide Oval like never before – teeing off from locations around the stadium, including level five of the Riverbank Stand, the northern mound at the base of the famous Moreton Bay fig trees and a purpose-built platform in front of the heritage scoreboard.
“We are very excited to be the first stadium in Australia to transform into a golf course and we can’t wait to host golfers of all abilities when this unique and exciting event starts,” Darren said.
“With the nine hole putting course as well as the nine hole stadium course, it’s shaping up to be an outstanding experience. A number of time slots are already sold out so we’re encouraging people to get organised with their friends and book their places.”
