The BBL|12 was full of highs and lows at Adelaide Oval. The Strikers had some record-breaking games with many memorable moments on and off the field.

Join us as we take a walk down memory lane and revisit some of our favourite moments from the season.

Strikers v Sixers – Season Opener

Adelaide Oval played host to the start of the Strikers BBL|12 campaign against the Sydney Sixers. Seeking redemption for the prior season, the Strikers treated their fans to a big 51 run victory. Adelaide’s favourite leg-spinner, Rashid Khan, ignited the Strikers’ season with a three-wicket haul.

Making this game even more special, history was made with the first-ever female umpire, Eloise Sheridan, officiating the season opener.

Strikers v Thunder – Adelaide’s Moody Skies

Adelaide fans saw their team’s undefeated run continue with an impressive six-wicket win over Sydney Thunder. Mother Nature stole the (strike) show with one of Adelaide’s famous amber sunsets and a lightning storm that rolled over the sky to produce a stunning display. This game truly had it all – cricket, wickets, Thunder and lightning!

Strikers v Stars – New Year’s Eve Bonanza

As the sun set on 2022, the Strikers and Melbourne Stars lit up Adelaide Oval. 40,373 flooded through the gates to celebrate New Year’s Eve with their favourite BBL team – at the time, this was the biggest BBL crowd in almost two years. The night was topped off with an epic performance by The Temper Trap, backed by a stunning light show and fireworks that kept the crowd mesmerised from start to finish. We might be slightly biased, but we can’t think of a better way to ring in the New Year!

Strikers v Hurricanes – One for the History Books!

The Strikers first home game of 2023 was arguably our favourite. The Hobart Hurricanes set a huge target of 229 runs for the Strikers to claim victory. Never ones to shy away from a challenge, the home side treated their faithful fans to an absolute nail-biter. As the fans held their collective breath, the Strikers made history and chased down the biggest total in the Big Bash League.

Strikers v Hurricanes – Short’s Spectacular Century

Fans were on the edge of their seats until the very last over when Matt Short secured the win against the Hobart Hurricanes with his century smashing the ball into the boundary rope for four runs. What an impressive performance by the player of the tournament! This sent the Adelaide Oval crowd into raptures. Safe to say that this game will be remembered for a long, long time.

We’ve thoroughly enjoyed BBL|12 and have loved sharing many special moments with the Strikers’ fans and visiting fans alike. We look forward to welcoming you all back to Adelaide Oval for BBL|13 where we hope to make many more iconic memories together.
