The success of Adelaide Oval’s new functions and events business has seen an additional 200 casual jobs created in the lead up to the start of the 2014 AFL season.

A further 65 positions are still available for chefs, stewards and corporate hosts.

This is on top of approximately 1200 positions that were advertised and filled ahead of last December’s Ashes Test.

Adam Vonthethoff, General Manager of Food and Beverage at Adelaide Oval, said demand for events at the Oval was exceeding expectations.

“We were extremely busy in the lead up to the Test and it hasn’t slowed at all since then with several events often running simultaneously,” Adam said.

“People are being drawn not only by the many function spaces that we have here but also the quality of the dining experience. We are taking calls locally, from interstate and overseas and we have bookings as far out as 2016.”

To cope with the increased demand, the Adelaide Oval SMA has hired 200 new staff to fill casual positions at the venue.

“We are currently seeking an additional 20 chefs and 20 stewards as well as up to 25 staff to fill a number of supervisor and corporate host roles,” Adam said.

“With events like the Rolling Stones concert and the first Showdown fast approaching, it’s a great time to be involved with the Adelaide Oval

Please only apply for these positions if you are able to work on the 22 March 2014 for the Rolling Stones and attend an induction next Wednesday 12 March.
