Adelaide Oval’s world-famous Northern Mound will welcome fans for the first time in season 2020 for next Friday night’s Preliminary Final between Port Adelaide and the winner of the Second Semi Final (Richmond v St Kilda).

Following discussions with SA Health, the Northern Mound will be roped into separate ‘pods’ measuring 40 square metres placed two metres apart.

Each pod will cater for up to 20 standing patrons. Initial plans indicate there will be up to  600 patrons in total watching from the mound, with the final configuration to be developed in consultation with the Port Adelaide Football Club.

The crowd on the Northern Mound will form part of the Oval’s total capacity, which will remain unchanged at 50% capacity.

“The Northern Mound is a special place for South Australian football supporters, so it’s great that we’ve been able to bring it back for what will be the biggest game of the year,” said Adelaide Oval CEO Andrew Daniels.

“We will now work with the Port Adelaide Football Club on the final layout for what should be a fantastic night for the fans.”
